Blong's Spirit Fist

is the first descendent of That Son (Seven Mountains Spirit Fist) Kung Fu, a style that has been well respected in Vietnam for hundreds of years. It originated in China, where it was shaped by The Esoteric Taoist. Later, as the style spread throughout Burma, it was further influenced by the Mystic Buddhist School of Spiritual Martial Arts. It then continued to spread through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, then finally over the Seven Mountains and into Vietnam.

Now, That Son Kung Fu is taught by Master Phuoc Gia Phan; the only first generation Sifu in North America.

Raymond H. Blong has studied under Master (Sifu) Phan for over 15 years. He has earned the rank of Master and is also a Certified That Son Instructor.

Raymond has over 28 years of Martial Arts Experience, In addition to his experience in Spirit Fist Kung Fu he has also studied Jubushakido and Tae Kwon Do.

Blong’s Spirit Fist uses the seven (7) base animal forms: Tiger, Dragon, Bird (White Crane), Phoenix, Eagle, Monkey and Snake. Through these forms students will learn their linear and cursive movements.

Students will also learn how to develop Chi through Meditation, External and Internal movements, as well as through Soft and Hard Chi Kung exercises. This combination will round out the student’s mastery of the art.

Later, students will be given the chance to learn form sparring and free sparring (controlled fighting). This is where students will learn how to use the fighting forms in actual combat situations.

Also, at the teacher’s discretion, students may learn various Chinese weapons.

Staff, Escrima, Chinese Broad Sword, Chinese Double Swords, Chinese Spear, Pudao, Kwan Dao, the Three Section Staff and the Whip

These are just examples of some of the weapons within this system.
